Nate Bargatze: Average, But In a Funny Way
Netflix special - Greatest Average American Streaming Now!
Hi. Hello. Hey. Welcome back to another post of the Heavy Laughs newsletter. If you enjoy comedy, I highly recommend you subscribe so you can get some suggestions on what to watch next!
This week we dive into Nate Bargatze. If you are already a fan of his, scroll down to the bottom to see some other recommendations for you to watch this week.
I believe my first introduction to Nate Bargatze was his 30 minute special on Netflix’s The Standups, which had a line up of incredible comics. Nate was the first episode in the series and I immediately enjoyed his sense of humor and style of comedy. I even saw him when he performed at Hilarities in Cleveland a few years ago.
After I saw him on Netflix, I noticed that he started to make more appearances on podcasts that I listened to and became a fan. Then, he released a hour-long special on Netflix called Tennessee Kid. If you haven’t heard of Nate before, here is a joke just so you can get a feel for his humor.
My buddy texted me early March and asked me what I was doing on March 18th. I felt like that was an oddly specific question until he told me that was when Nate was releasing another Netflix special and he wanted to watch it with me. Of course, I had to say yes. March 18th came around and we smoked a cigar, then went inside to watch the special. A solid day in my book.
Here’s the trailer to his latest special, The Greatest Average American:
Okay. Hopefully by now I’ve shown you that Nate is a great comic to watch and he’s all about having a good time. Also, you might not have even noticed that he doesn’t curse in his sets. He’s not necessarily clean, but he performs comedy without using a curse word.
